Send Your Kids Back to School with Creative Lunchbox Ideas

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – Unfortunately, the summer is coming to a close. This means it’s time to start preparing to send your kids back to school! When you’re shopping for supplies and new clothes, don’t forget to consider what your kids will be eating every day at school. Don’t stick with the boring sandwich lunches, send your kids back to school with these creative lunchbox ideas!

1. Wraps

Instead of a regular sandwich, switch it up with a more creative wrap for lunch! This list has quite a few interesting ideas, but we’re a fan of the almond butter strawberry wrap! You could also try swapping the almond butter for peanut butter! Your kid will feel like they’re eating dessert for lunch!

2. Make Your Own Lunchable 

What kid doesn’t love a Lunchable? But they aren’t always the most nutritious or cost effective. You can make your own with compartment lunch containers by using your children’s favorite snacks! Try following this list, or come up with your own ideas like cheese, crackers, lunchmeat, cookies, carrots, etc.

3. Breakfast for Lunch 

This is an easy way to use leftovers from breakfast! This list has a few ideas but try whatever you like! Consider things like dry cereal, yogurt, fruit, muffins, pancakes, etc.

4. Bagel with Cream Cheese 

This is another great alternative to regular sandwich lunches. You could also try pb&j on a bagel and add other snacks like fruits and veggies to make it a balanced meal!

“Subaru Loves Learning” Initiative at Serra Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – The month of August often signals the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. For many children, the start of a new school year is exciting, with the promise of new clothes and new school supplies, fresh books and clean notepads. But for many students these necessities are not a reality. The “Subaru Loves Learning” initiative at Serra Traverse City will help provide necessary supplies to Ms. Stremlow's kindergarten classroom at Eastern Elementary! With help from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and AdoptAClassroom.org, the "Subaru Loves Learning" initiative aims to provide students across the country with supplies and books they may otherwise go without. With the help from the AAAS, Subaru plans to donate over 40,000 science books to schools in need across the country. Additionally, 1,500 books will be donated to schools in Camden, NJ, the future home of the U.S. Subaru headquarters.

AdoptAClassroom.org partners with Subaru to provide supplies to teachers. This partnership will provide 300 kits of supplies to teachers. Each kit contains materials for 25 students, benefitting 8,000 children across the country. You can stop by Serra Traverse City to fill out a thank you card for your favorite educator, or take a picture with our display to post on your personal social media sites.

 

As well as physical donations to schools in need, Subaru is encouraging its customers to sign customized book labels, or thank you cards for teachers, to add a personal touch to the already incredible work being done through the "Subaru Loves Learning" initiative. It is estimated that these partnerships will benefit more than 50,000 students across the country.
