Cadillac XT5 Earns Top Safety Pick+ Rating

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – The 2017 Cadillac XT5 has earned Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This rating is the highest rating a vehicle can earn in this category.

When the Cadillac XT5 is equipped with optional front crash prevention, it is able to earn good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests administered by the IIHS. A vehicle must also receive an advanced or superior rating in the front crash prevention test. It is these qualifications that earned it its TSP+ rating.

The Cadillac XT5 was designed with passenger safety in mind, and comes standard with 7 airbags. Emergency services provided by OnStar are also available to create an even safer environment for drivers. There are also other safety packages available that include driver awareness and driver assist technologies.

In addition to its advanced technology systems, the Cadillac XT5 design is also what makes it a TSP+ rated vehicle. Extensive computer simulations were created in order to make the XT5 an extremely safe crossover vehicle. A revised front structure on this year's model improves its safety rating as well.

There were 47 originally entered for evaluation, 19 of which come from premium brands. Each entry vehicle must have had an all-new or significantly updated or redesigned interior to be eligible and be considered affordable. Testers also made sure to play with the human-machine interface to check for user-friendliness and to see how the vehicle's information is communicated.
