TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – In just a few weeks, the 91st Annual Cherry Festival will be underway! From June 30th to July 8th, experience the best that the Cherry Capital has to offer with a week full of unforgettable memories. Make this year the best one yet with these 5 fun and exciting events at the Cherry Festival that are sure to be enjoyable for the entire family! From air shows to concerts, make the most of the Cherry Festival this year and its long list of activities each day! 

1. July 1st & 2nd - Watch the Air Show

At 1:15 PM on both July 1st and 2nd, watch the Thunderbirds fly across the skies of the Cherry Capital! The Thunderbirds will be showing off several incredible mid-flight formations that will highlight the precision of the Air Force and its trained members. They'll be performing over 40 different formations each day, so you won't want to miss any of this unique opportunity!

2. July 3rd - Sign Up For a Cherry Pie Eating Contest

Throughout the week, there will be cherry pie eating contests for both kids and adults! Sign up for free and a chance to win some prizes! Anyone of any age can sign up, so make sure you register ahead of time to be first in line to win some free Cherry Festival goodies! The kid's pie eating contest is from 1:00-3:00 PM, while the adult's contest is from 5:00-6:00 PM! Train hard to be victorious this year!

3. July 4th - Catch the Fireworks Show

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than some good old-fashioned fireworks? From 10:30-11:30, experience some of the best fireworks that Traverse City has to offer along the south end of Grand Traverse Bay, near the Festival Open Space Park, Clinch Bay Marina, or along the Bryant and West End Beaches. With a donation of $30, you can secure VIP seating, too! All of the proceeds benefit the Fourth of July Fireworks foundation.

4. July 6th - Check out a Concert

This year, the Cherry Festival is proud to welcome Cole Swindell and several other acts to the stage! The Cole Swindell concert will begin at 6:00, and general admission tickets are only $30! With a full lineup of unforgettable shows, make the Pepsi Bay Side Music Stage your second home this year! Experience a fun and lively show at the Pepsi Bay Side Music Stage for a night you won't forget. Tickets are going fast, so make sure you get your spot reserved at the show as soon as you can!

5. July 8th - Participate in the Festival of Races

On the last day of the festival, participants will be able to pick a race of their choice in the Annual Festival of Races! Choose from a 5K, 10K, 15K, or half marathon! Over 50,000 participants have crossed the Festival of Races finish line in years past; add your name to the list! The best part is, participants receive a free shirt and cherries at the finish. 5 Northern Michigan 4th of July Fireworks Displays

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – If you’re looking for something fun to do this 4th of July, we’ve created a list of 5 Northern Michigan 4th of July fireworks displays! Sticking around in Traverse City is always an option, but if you want to try something different this year, these locations are all less than an hour from Traverse City!

1. Traverse City
The obvious choice would be to stay in Traverse City, the show is sure to be spectacular over the bay!

2. Torch Lake
The view of Torch Lake is beautiful enough on a regular day, add some fireworks and it’s sure to be a great time!

3. Frankfort
The Frankfort fireworks can be seen over Lake Michigan. Festivities also include a parade earlier in the day.

4. Leland
Catch the concert on the lawn and the 4th of July parade, then head to the fireworks display in Leland!

5. Long Lake
Just a short 9 miles from Traverse City, head to Long Lake for a change of scenery and to see some awesome fireworks!
