TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – The month of August often signals the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. For many children, the start of a new school year is exciting, with the promise of new clothes and new school supplies, fresh books and clean notepads. But for many students these necessities are not a reality. The “Subaru Loves Learning” initiative at Serra Traverse City will help provide necessary supplies to Ms. Stremlow's kindergarten classroom at Eastern Elementary! With help from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and AdoptAClassroom.org, the "Subaru Loves Learning" initiative aims to provide students across the country with supplies and books they may otherwise go without. With the help from the AAAS, Subaru plans to donate over 40,000 science books to schools in need across the country. Additionally, 1,500 books will be donated to schools in Camden, NJ, the future home of the U.S. Subaru headquarters.
AdoptAClassroom.org partners with Subaru to provide supplies to teachers. This partnership will provide 300 kits of supplies to teachers. Each kit contains materials for 25 students, benefitting 8,000 children across the country. You can stop by Serra Traverse City to fill out a thank you card for your favorite educator, or take a picture with our display to post on your personal social media sites.
As well as physical donations to schools in need, Subaru is encouraging its customers to sign customized book labels, or thank you cards for teachers, to add a personal touch to the already incredible work being done through the "Subaru Loves Learning" initiative. It is estimated that these partnerships will benefit more than 50,000 students across the country.
