Volkswagen Unleashes Land of Sharks Campaign

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.,–– Don't jump in the water anytime soon: Shark Week has officially begun! Discovery Channel's annual week-long block of shark programming continues this year with new programs ranging from a competition between Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and a great white shark to oceans of eras past. One of the newest additions to the lineup, however, is Volkswagen's newest ad campaign, called the "Land of Sharks". The campaign centers around the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and its' versatility and carrying capacity as a family travels on a road trip to learn about prehistoric sharks and their impact on the world. Watch Volkswagen unleash the Land of Sharks campaign this week, and keep an eye out for the unique features the 2018 Atlas has to offer!

Volkswagen Unleashes Land of Sharks Campaign

These short 60-second vignettes, set to air throughout Shark Week and after, will follow a family of diehard Shark Week fans as they journey to archaeological sites, research labs, and shark diving to learn about the ancient sharks that once inhabited the earth. The commercials will highlight the 2018 VW Atlas and its diverse capabilities on the road as it's able to carry all of the family's luggage, supplies, and any souvenirs they acquire along the way. Calling it the "best road trip ever", the family happily drives off into the sunset at the ending of the road trip in their 2018 Atlas.

The commercials have also been paired with a unique website that allows viewers to see what types of ancient sharks would exist in their neighborhood with Google Street View. Providing fun facts, interactive maps, and an immersive website, the Land of Sharks website provides interactivity (and a quick education) with your local neighborhood and its history.
