Volvo Celebrates Safety in New Video

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – This year, Volvo celebrates safety in its new video, a short film entitled "Moments." This video focusing entirely on the XC60's advanced safety and driver assistive features and how they have the ability to change people's lives. The main idea Volvo conveys through the short film video is "sometimes, the moments that never happen matter the most". The commercial's emotional appeal helps to highlight Volvo's commitment to safety and preventing unnecessary accidents and fatalities with vehicles.

The short film follows a girl's journey to her first day of school and gives viewers a glimpse into her future. Growing up, traveling the world, and settling down and raising a family are some of the many things in store for her. However, this comes to a quick stop when she sets foot into the street in front of a Volvo vehicle. The car immediately detects her and automatically applies the emergency brake function, saving her from certain danger. The film closes with its tagline - "Sometimes the moments that never happen matter the most."

“This film featuring the new XC60 highlights how important active safety systems have become and reflects Volvo’s leadership in this area. We launched our City Safety autonomous emergency braking system as standard equipment in all new Volvos back in 2008, starting with the first generation XC60. Today, these systems are finally becoming an industry standard,” said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Region EMEA at Volvo Car Group.

Every year, over 1.2 million people die in traffic related accidents. Volvo's vision of a fatality-free future is coming closer to reality, though. The XC60's newest features include:

-Autonomous emergency brakes
-Updated Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)
-Oncoming Lane Mitigation technology
