Cadillac Improves Navigation Services

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., – With its recent advances in technology with Vehicle to Vehicle Communication (V2V), Cadillac improves its navigation services with new Vehicle to Infrastructure Communication. Vehicle to Vehicle communication allows Cadillac vehicles to detect potential hazards from nearby vehicles, such as premature breaking and other vehicles merging into lanes. Vehicle to Infrastructure technology will allow Cadillac vehicles to detect different hazards and conditions ahead of time, such as weather, traffic, and other potential dangers. This will help Cadillac drivers remain safer on the roads and will get them to their destinations at a much quicker and efficient pace.

The technology, which was tested in Michigan, allowed the Cadillac CTS, equipped with Vehicle to Infrastructure Communication, to predict traffic signals and navigate through Warren. The car gave indicators to the driver when they were driving too fast near a red light to prevent any traffic violations through running a red light. The CTS's GPS communication allows it to send and receive 1,000 messages per second, giving this advanced technology a lot of insight on safety and road conditions.

To keep the driver safe, it doesn't transmit any personal information like your VIN, registration, or MAC address. Since the signal is wireless, firewalls have also been implemented to protect the driver from any cyber attacks. The signal is exclusively communicated between the infrastructure and the vehicle, which keeps the car's computer just as safe as the driver will be with the new navigation technology.

The new 2017 Cadillac CTS comes equipped with V2V technology as a standard implementation, so drivers will be able to use this cutting-edge feature as they hit the road this summer. Cadillac's improved navigation services will help their drivers get where they need to go as quickly as possible. Among other features, the V2V will be regularly updated, allowing Cadillac drivers to make the most of the wide array of features available.
